starting out

In the last days of 2009 and now well into the first week of 2010 my knitting has been Ysolda-dominated. Exclusively. This has something to do with the fact that I recently got my own copy of Whimsical Little Knits 2, which has many many patterns that I am dying to make for myself, and something to do with the fact that people love the hats I made by Ysolda’s patterns and keep asking me to make them one. I don’t see this as problematic. Ysolda is one of my absolute favourite knitwear designers, first of all for how well written her patterns are, secondly for how enjoyable they are to knit, and finally, most importantly, because I start out every one of them thinking “I won’t be able to do this, it’ll be too hard for me” and then all of a sudden I’m done and it looks just like in the photos! :)

About fridica

I started knitting completely by accident, when I was visiting my parents for a holiday in 2008. On a boring Sunday afternoon, I decided to dig through their stash of books to see if there was anything interesting to take back to my apartment. A knitting manual happened to be one of the books I found. I got curious, my mom immediately dug out her old needles and yarn stash (which she hadn’t used in a decade at least), and in a few minutes we were both casting on - she by memory, I by following the instructions from the book… :) Since I normally prefer learning from books, this was ideal.. I took the book home with me, and very very soon - I was an addict.
